With Twitter’s popularity exploding recently, it was really only a matter of time before someone went and did something that hurt my head. That honor would have to go to the DC publication The Hill which recently launched a blog devoted to, and I’m not making this up, reporting on what political figures are tweeting. Yes, you read that right. There is now a blog devoted to following a micr0-blogging site.
I feel like there should now be a horror movie voice-over. “In a world dominated by the 24-hour news cycle, a band of devoted politicians tried to talk directly to the public. But nothing is safe from the news beast that must be fed.”
I mean seriously people, you’re BLOGGING about what is essentially a BLOGGING website. Aren’t blogs supposed to be places where you synthesize ideas, come up with news ideas, and contribute something to the online conversation? Maybe bring things to people’s attention they may have missed? Not just repeat, almost verbatim, what people are saying on another blog site with a minimal amount of commentary on your part? With a RUNNING STREAM of live Tweets as a sidebar?
Next thing you know we’ll be able to follow The Hill’s Twitter blog on Twitter. How redundant would that be?
